Saal Hillside Resort
A twenty-key forest resort that steps down a sal-wooded slope above Hazaribagh.
The brief
Problem.
A sloping, tree-dense site near the plateau could not be flattened without losing the very forest guests come for. The brief asked for cottages, a restaurant and a pool with minimal earthwork.
Our response
Solution.
We planned the cottages as light steel-framed boxes on stilts that thread between existing trees, linked by a stepped timber walkway. A single-level clubhouse and infinity pool anchor the lowest terrace facing the valley.
